Dairy-Free Chai Tea

Dairy-Free Chai Tea is a warm, comforting beverage that’s perfect for chilly mornings, while reading books, and just about everything else in between. Black tea, spices, almond milk, and honey or agave nectar come together for a delightful drink. {GF + DF}

  • 1 black tea bag
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup almond milk (coconut and cashew milks would also work)
  • 2 tablespoons 100% pure honey (paleo) or agave nectar (vegan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • Pinch of cardamom

  1. Combine tea, cinnamon stick, and water in small saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add milk, sweetener, allspice, and cardamom and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Remove the cinnamon stick (or reserve it to store with leftovers). Let cool and then ENJOY!
  3. Store any unused tea in refrigerator for about 2 days.

  • Double the batch. Not all recipes double easily, but this chai does!
  • Add sweetener in small quantities. Then add more as desired until the right flavor is reached.
  • Simmer and steep for longer periods to create a stronger chai. Alternatively, reduce the simmering and steeping times for milder tea.
  • If the tea is too strong or bitter, then add a little more milk or sweetener.
