This Vanilla Citrus Smoothie made with almond milk, oranges, lemons, limes, and fresh ginger is a refreshing drink to start your day! Make it the night before for a ready-to-go, tantalizing breakfast! {Vegan or Paleo}

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup almond milk (or other milk of choice)
  • 2 mandarin oranges, peeled and seeds removed
  • 1 EACH fresh lemon AND fresh lime, peeled and as many seeds removed as possible
  • 2 rounds fresh ginger
  • 24 tablespoons 100% pure honey (paleo) or organic agave nectar (vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • handful of fresh spinach leaves
  • Chia seeds, flaxseeds, or vanilla protein powder, optional

Instructions

  1. In a high speed blender, combine the almond milk, lemon, lime, mandarin oranges, ginger, sweetener, vanilla, and spinach. Blend on high until smooth.
  2. If the smoothie heats up in the blender, then a handful of ice cubes.
  3. To thicken the smoothie, add chia seeds, flaxseeds, or vanilla protein powder.
  4. For best results, consume within 1-2 days. Keep refrigerated.

Notes

  • Thicken your smoothie with chia seeds, flaxseeds, or vanilla protein powder (although not officially paleo, as far as I know, I enjoy Orgain Vanilla Protein Powder)
