Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water is a delicious, thirst-quenching non-alcoholic beverage that is perfect for a cozy gathering with friends or family. Or, if I’m being honest, a good book. Add a splash of lime juice to the mix and let the flavors do their thing! {Vegan-friendly + Gluten-Free}
Strawberry + lime together in a drink? HAS THIS EVEN BEEN DONE BEFORE? Okay, I jest. Yes, it’s absolutely been done before. But let me just say, Spiriteds, this combo with sweetener and sparkling water is meant to happen. I will be springing and summering my way through humidity with a book in one hand and this fruity, citrusy Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water in the other. K-Hubs says it tastes like a virgin strawberry daiquiri, and I quite agree.
It is the answer to high temps and all the humidity, mid-mornings and late evenings. This beverage has sunset written all over it. Tuck it away in your recipe tin to have at the ready.
Speaking of “at the ready,” one benefit of this recipe is you can make the strawberry lime portion ahead of time, refrigerate it in a container, and then dollop it into glasses with ice and sparkling water whenever you want. It doesn’t get easier or more convenient than that. Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water is the perfect beverage to share when friends come over. Set out glasses, ice, this strawberry syrup, and sparkling water, and let friends and family go to town!
Are you ready to make your own Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water? If yes, then grab a saucepan, fresh strawberries, and lime juice, and let’s do this!
Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water is
- Gluten-Free
- Vegan-friendly
- Thirst-quenching
- Easy to make
- Even easier to share!
To keep your beverage gluten-free and vegan, it’s a good idea to read sparkling water labels and choose your sweetener carefully.
Ingredients to make Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water
- Fresh strawberries. Fresh, ripe strawberries are ideal in this recipe. If you find your strawberries aren’t quite sweet enough, then add another splash of lime juice. I try adding more lime juice before adding more sweetener because this recipe can go from not sweet enough to too sweet in no. time.
- Agave nectar. This vegan sweetener works really well in this recipe. If you have another sweetener of choice that you prefer, then go for it, and let me know in the comments below how it worked out!
- Lime juice. It adds just the right amount of flavor balance with the strawberries. Start with a little bit and then add more as your tastebuds desire. Fresh or bottled will do the trick, however they don’t always behave exactly the same way in recipes. So, whichever you select, taste-test as you go.
- Cold water and ice cubes. This thirst-quenching beverage tastes best when it’s super-chilled.
- Sparkling water. Lime-flavored sparkling water is perfect in this recipe, but you can switch it up with other flavors, if you’d like.
Garnish your Strawberry Line Sparkling Water with fresh strawberry slices, lime wedges or slices, or fresh rosemary. This drink is delicious and pretty and meant to be shared!
How to make Strawberry Lime Sparkling Water
- In a saucepan, bring water, strawberries, and sweetener to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 5-10 minutes, or until the strawberries soften and are easily mashed with a spoon or potato masher. Remove from heat to cool.
- When the strawberry mixture is cool enough to handle, press the mixture through a mesh strainer into a bowl. Press down on the strawberries using the rounded side of a spoon to extract as much of the liquid from the pulp as possible. Then add the lime juice to the strawberry liquid and continue to let cool.
- Spoon 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup strawberry mixture into 8-ounce drinking glasses. Then top with ice cubes and pour sparkling water over the ice. Garnish with fresh strawberries or springs of rosemary.
- For best results, do not mix the strawberry mixture and sparkling water together until just prior to serving. Store leftover strawberry juice in a glass jar for about 1-2 days and then add it to a glass with ice, sparkling water, and garnishes when you’d like a refreshing sip.
