  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 78 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/31/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley*
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano*
  • 1 teaspoon basil*
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt (more as desired)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  1. In a large skillet or sauté pan, brown hamburger. Using same pan or transferring to a larger pan, add in onion, garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, sea salt, and black pepper. If using dried herbs, add them here. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and boil covered for 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently. If sauce boils too hot, reduce heat slightly and add a little extra water. Boil uncovered for another 10-15 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached. If using fresh herbs, add them here. Sauce will thicken as it stands.
  3. Serve immediately or store in refrigerator for 3-4 days.

*Amounts are for dried herbs. If using fresh herbs, start with 3-4 tablespoons parsley and 2-3 tablespoons EACH oregano and basil.
