In a large skillet or sauté pan, brown hamburger. Using same pan or transferring to a larger pan, add in onion, garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, sea salt, and black pepper. If using dried herbs, add them here. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and boil covered for 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently. If sauce boils too hot, reduce heat slightly and add a little extra water. Boil uncovered for another 10-15 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached. If using fresh herbs, add them here. Sauce will thicken as it stands.
Serve immediately or store in refrigerator for 3-4 days.
*Amounts are for dried herbs. If using fresh herbs, start with 3-4 tablespoons parsley and 2-3 tablespoons EACH oregano and basil.
