Kiwi Apple Cider

Is it a cider or a smoothie? Who really knows for sure. But cinnamon, apples, and kiwi make this sweet ‘n sour Kiwi Apple Cider the perfect gluten-free cold weather beverage that’s absolutely addicting. Paleo and vegan variations included! {GF + Vegan}


  • 2 cups warm water
  • 4 apples (I used a combination of green and red), sliced with skins left on
  • 3 kiwis, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar (vegan), 100% pure honey (paleo), or 100% pure maple syrup (vegan or paleo) 


  1. Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender and mix on HIGH until smooth.
  2. Serve immediately while it’s still warm or refrigerate in glass jars for up to three days and reheat before serving.
  3. Contents will settle, so give the cider a brisk stir before sipping. Top with your favorite nuts and seeds or more slices of apple and kiwi.


  • Yield is an approximation.
  • Add more or less cinnamon, depending on how strong you want your drink to be. Add other spices, too, if you’d like. Nutmeg, allspice, and ginger are all worth a try. 
  • If the drink is too tart, then add more sweetener or top with chopped nuts. This often offsets the tartness of either the apples or the kiwis.
