This recipe was born out of of a spring that was engulfed in clouds and damp, humid days. Should we to wear flip-flops or a cardigan? No one knew for sure. So, for a pick-me-up, we mastered this Homemade Pineapple Lemonade and never looked back.
Ingredients for Homemade Pineapple Lemonade
Although this recipe isn’t difficult, I do highly suggest using fresh pineapple. The juices will naturally sweeten the drink.
- Fresh pineapple. I cut the pineapple into cubes.
- Lemon juice. You can either use freshly squeezed lemon juice or buy store-bought.
- Agave nectar. I love this ingredient for sweet, cool drinks because it dissolves easily in the juice. You can also use honey, if you like, for a paleo-friendly option.
- Garnishes: Raw sugar around the rim of the glasses, a spritz of lime juice, a lime wedge, or a lemon wedge. Cute towels optional.
- Equipment: Either a mixing bowl or mason jars for soaking the pineapple and lemon juice together.
How to make Homemade Pineapple Lemonade
It’s so good and so flexible. Let the pineapple soak in the lemon juice for several hours or get sidetracked like I do and let everything soak overnight. Guess what? It’ll still taste incredible!
- Pour lemon juice into a mixing bowl or large glass jar and set aside.
- Next, cut a fresh pineapple into chunks and add them to the lemon juice. Then stir in the agave nectar and refrigerate the mixture for at least two hours to overnight.
- See variations below for ways to enjoy this beverage. You can discard the pineapple chunks or keep them in the drink, depending on how you want to serve your lemonade. Garnish serving glasses with raw sugar, add a splash of lime juice, or add lemon or lime wedges, if desired.
- Keep refrigerated and enjoy within two days.
How to enjoy this flavorsome bevvie!
Okay, so the way I prep this drink is to soak the pineapple in lemon juice and then add sweetener. It’s definitely a pucker face recipe and perfect for hot, humid days. But let’s say it’s not a hot, humid day or you don’t want a pucker face bevvie. Or maybe you just want to shake things up because you can. Then you’re in luck because there are countless ways to enjoy this drink, a few of which I’ve shared below.
- On the rocks. On a hot summer day, add handfuls of ice to your Homemade Pineapple Lemonade. As the ice melts, you’ll have a softer-flavored lemonade on your hands.
- Sparkling water. Pour about 1/4 cup Homemade Pineapple Lemonade into glasses. Then add handfuls of ice and pour sparkling water over the top. Gently stir everything together so the flavors have a chance to blend. While I haven’t tried every flavor of sparkling water, I do think, lemon, lime, or grapefruit would taste delicious with Homemade Pineapple Lemonade.
- Flavored Ice cubes. Pour your Homemade Pineapple Lemonade into ice cube trays and freeze them. When you’re in the mood for a flavorful drink, add them to sparkling water or Agave-Infused Homemade Lemonade.
- Soft drinks. Add a dollop of Homemade Pineapple Lemonade to lemon lime soft drinks.
