It might still be 95 degrees here in the Midwest. But that doesn’t mean I’m not starting to think about fall, what with my comfy sweaters and mugs of hot apple cider just waiting to be rescued from their respective metaphorical hibernations. The girls are already asking to decorate the house for fall (and Halloween, if they’re being honest).
Which got me thinking about fall classroom decor, especially those ideas that give off an autumn vibe but without a lot of heavy lifting. Even better? If this same fall classroom decor will also help with classroom organization.
And I have a few resources for you to create your own autumnal wonderland! So let’s jump in and explore!

Fall classroom bulletin board
For this fall classroom bulletin board, I used a woodgrain bulletin board paper from Amazon and a eucalyptus green scalloped bulletin board border from my local classroom supply store. They work great with traditional classroom decor themes, too, including this Boho Farmhouse Classroom Decor theme.
Then I centered my Apple Orchard Bulletin Board posters (3 pictured, 9 total) on the bulletin board and used the corresponding bunting (included with the posters) to decorate my desk. To get more bang for your buck, print multiple copies of the bunting and string them across doors, windows, or bulletin boards. Use the scale function in your printer’s dialogue box to adjust the poster and bunting sizes up or down.
If you’d like to string the bunting using clothespins, scooch the bunting piece and the twine or string further into the clothespin, closer to the hinge. This will prevent the bunting from hanging upside down or at an awkward angle. For bulletin boards, purchase clothespin push tacks or attach eye hooks at opposite ends for the string.
Fall teacher binder covers
Mmmkay, I have another fall classroom resource for you, and I can’t even talk about it. Except for the part where I’m going to talk about it. Thank you for understanding.
These Fall editable binder covers, spines, and name tags (and table numbers and desk name plates) are super-cute and multifunctional. I’m all about the deep greens, yellows, and reds paired with apples and trees and wheelbarrows. Not to mention the crinkled paper look on several of the resources matched with the fall-themed hen scratch design.
Classroom decorations for autumn
Like many of my other classroom designs, I kept the decorations to a minimum.
- Red, green, orange, and yellow book bins. Book bins aren’t cheap. So to change up the classroom look without breaking the bank, pick two or three book bins in your fall colors and place them in the classroom as a centerpiece or focal point. Think a book nook with fall-themed stories.
- Wicker, woven, and kraft materials. Baskets, trays, organizers, you name it. Magazine holders often come in a kraft material and would be a great temporary focal point in the classroom.
- Gold accents. Gold-trimmed lamps, organizers, and accents complement the reds and yellows of fall. (Peep those little gold and white canisters on the top shelves of my desk – candles that, once passed their burins phase, I cleaned, polished, and repurposed).
Friends, this is where it’s at. Apples, trees, reds, greens, yellows, oranges. A hint Mother Nature is about to put on quite a color show. I’m here for it. Every stinking bit of it. I’m glad you’re here, too! Happy fall! ❤️🧡💛💚
