Dinosaur Classroom Decor

Can a classroom decor theme have a mind of its own? Asking for a teacher-author. Because I’m 99.9% certain this Dinosaur classroom decor theme had (has?) a mind of its own. So much so I took extended breaks more than once to let the design percolate in my mind. I was close but not quite. And once I felt myself forcing the design, I knew I had to walk away.

It may have taken longer than planned, but here we are. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. If you love a cascade of color options and patterns to mix and match throughout your classroom, then you’re in for a treat! Because Dinosaur classroom decor has it all. Cool colors and warm colors, digital backgrounds that symbolize nature, and countless resources to aid in student learning and teacher organization.

Let’s take a theme walk, shall we?

Who is Dinosaur classroom decor for?

First and foremost, teachers who LOVE COLOR. Second, teachers who LOVE CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION. And third, teachers who LOVE TO GET THE MOST OUT OF DECOR BUNDLES. Because this Dinosaur classroom decor theme has all of the above and MORE.

I DON’T THINK I’VE WRITTEN ENOUGH IN ALL CAPS.

But let me just say this: you’ll find resources like the Word Wall with Sight Words to aid in literacy and vocabulary. And you’ll find math resources covering Colors, Shapes, and Numbers, along with Math Fractions, Multiplication, and Place Value. There are also Calendar and Weather resources if you like to keep track of what’s happening outside your window and where you are in the calendar year.

Dinosaur classroom decor ideas

If there is one thing about this theme that makes it stand out from so many others is how FLEXIBLE the colors scheme is. Whatever you have in your arsenal of classroom furniture and accessories, there’s a good chance at least some (if not more) of it will fit right in with this theme.

Whether your previous classroom decor themes were pastel, neutral, tropical, farmhouse, or black and white, shop what you already own before heading to the store for more items. If you’ve stocked up on a rainbow array of book bins, they’ll be right at home here. Black and white book bins instead? They’ll also work. And the book bin labels in the Dinosaur Classroom Supply, Book Bin, and Rolling Cart Labels will make organizing them a breeze!

You also can’t go wrong with rainbow bulletin board borders, as you see in this photoshoot. And woodgrain bulletin board paper fits right in (it looks natural and complements the greenery in the theme). You can also go for fadeless bulletin board paper. It often costs more but, in theory, should last longer.

One word of caution: Measure the area of your bulletin board before buying bulletin board paper. Lower cost bulletin board paper is often narrower and may not fit a large bulletin board well.

The Classroom Rules Posters were straight-up fun to design. And they’ll go extremely well with a variety of bulletin board ideas.

Classroom organization tools

I hinted at classroom organization above. But let’s delve even further. From Classroom Supply Labels and Teacher Binder Covers, Spines, Hand Signals, and Name Tags to Classroom Jobs and Daily Schedule Cards, you’ll have all kinds of materials to organize your classroom. 

One thing that is super-cool about this theme is how several resources can be repurposed into more than one type of use. The center and table numbers, cubby tags, and desk name plates in the teacher bind covers product can be used to label bins and tubs. The book bin labels in the classroom supply product come in more than one style so you can label not only those bins but also narrower magazine holders, too. The narrower labels also work on the tall side of a standard book bin.

What about keeping tracking of who goes where? Dinosaur classroom decor includes that, too. In the How We Go Home resource, you get tools to keep track of how everyone leaves for the day. Also included are hall passes, voice level cards, and a poster where you can share where your class is if a guest stops by to an empty classroom.

The sky is the limit to how you organize your classroom! 

Text editable classroom materials

Every class is different. Each student is different. And your needs as a teacher will vary from year to year. So as you put your classroom together, look through the text editable files in each product within the bundle so you can customize content as needed.

Is EVERYTHING 100% text editable? The answer is no. There are some materials that due to artist copyright or scope of the product are not completely text editable.

Digital and ready-to-print classroom resources

There are Google Slides Templates for in-class or online learning and Google Sites Templates to build a classroom website. I LOVE hearing how you use these products your classroom.

But, like any digital resource, tech issues do arise. I’ve written two blog posts, How to Edit Google Slides and How to Customize Google Sites for a Classroom. There have been updates to Google Sites since the latter post was first written. But I have found the suggestions still ring true. There is a little more finagling required when placing and sizing the circle buttons. But the process remains fairly similar to Google Sites classic.

Some teachers wonder whether it will take forever to print, laminate, and trim materials. This definitely comes down to personal preference. I don’t mind printing and trimming materials when I set up photoshoots. But I have two young helpers by my side, and K-Hubs also gets in on the action, too. I’ve read other teachers like to work on it with friends, teens looking for extra work, or family members, often over the summer. Queue a movie and get trimming.
