Grapefruit, mandarin oranges, and pineapple make for a thirst-quenching juice that is ready to go in under 10 minutes! Back-to-School Orange Grapefruit Juice for the win!
Well, we made it. The first day of school has arrived. Toodle would go to school all year if she could, although she told us she finally learned to appreciate summer in the last month. Bless that honesty.
Or as Mrs. Teacher said, “Oh, she’s one of THOSE students. Loves the school year.” In the words of Dr. Seth Hazlitt, Jessica Fletcher’s should-be boyfriend (man friend? companion friend?), “Ayuh.”
That’s our girl. It is a delightful non-problem to have.
Also, this teacher? She’s one of us. I may have had a hard time letting go of Kindergarten Mrs. Teacher. So much so that I suggested “Toodle” go down to her room during open house to say hi. “Toodle” had a hard time leaving the old classroom. And by “Toodle,” I mean “me.” But new Mrs. Teacher is pretty awesome, too.
So we are here now with last year’s memories, hopes for this year, and a refreshing juice that will now be a part of of my morning routine. Because delicious.
Whereas the hardest part about the last recipe was naming it, the hardest part with this recipe was not drinking it while I photographed it. I don’t mean that in a cute way either. I mean that literally because I kept sneaking sips of this Back-to-School Orange Grapefruit Juice as the amount left in the glass got lower and lower.
And I don’t even care for grapefruit.
So why bother? Because I got curious about how well grapefruit, pineapple, and mandarin oranges would taste together. And I’m glad I got curious because this stuff is 2DIE4.
Have I mentioned it’s here, just in time for the new school year? I have? Well, good. It’s here just in time for school.
Because we plan to have this as part of our morning routine, I wanted something that was easy to throw together. One grapefruit (you can use less if grapefruit in large amounts bothers you or you are getting used to the taste) + two peeled mandarin oranges + a cup of frozen pineapple + a little water + a sweetener of choice = SO MUCH YUM.
Whatever you don’t drink immediately can go straight in the fridge where it will keep well for a few days. If you drink it all up, then no worries because this morning cute of delightfulness is super easy to prepare.
You guys, it’s this. All of it. For breakfast whenever I can. Now, if you’ll excuse me, our family is going to walk to school, where I suspect all of us will find our sanity. Our collective energy banks will rejoice.
