Apple Slice Charcuterie Board

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

Grab a charcuterie board (or a cutting board!), slap some fruits and toppings on there, and call it done! This Apple Slice Charcuterie Board has all the fixings, including strawberry jam, almond butter, dairy-free chocolate pieces, mixed nuts, shredded coconut, and frozen fruit (fresh will also work)! It’s a delicious dairy-free, paleo-friendly snack or breakfast recipe! {Vegan & Paleo-friendly}

Apples, pecans, dairy-free chocolate chips, and strawberry jam on a slate charcuterie board

I’ve written it before and I’ll write it again. Everything tastes better on a charcuterie board, including these Granny Smith apples. If I could eat every meal like this, I absolutely would. Either this way or while plopped on the couch/standing over the sink. I’m nothing if not formal. Thank you for understanding.

In the meantime, we’ll just spruce up our breakfast, brunch, and snack games with this Apple Slice Charcuterie Board. We’ll have our toppings and enjoy them, too. Also, speaking of toppings, anything goes. No, really. ANYTHING. For this one, I combine some sweet (dairy-free chocolate pieces) and sour (Granny Smith apples) with creamy (almond butter) and crunchy (pecans). It’s a medley of textures, flavors, and combinations, and we love it! This Apple Slice Charcuterie Board is also really pretty. And isn’t that what it’s really all about? Probably not. But it is a nice bonus.

Fruits, mixed nuts, and apples on a slate charcuterie board

So if you are doing a virtual brunch with friends and family or you need to shake up the breakfast/snack routine at home, then this is just another sweet ’n sour way to do it!

And if you don’t have a charcuterie board, a regular old cutting board will work, too. A firm board that is either wood or a solid plastic is ideal. That way the ingredients won’t roll off if you need to transport it from counter to table or room to room. But you do you. We’re just over here looking for new ways to spice meals up, and this sweet charcuterie spread was a natural extension. Honestly, it was just a matter of time.

APPLE SLICE CHARCUTERIE BOARD INGREDIENTS:

When I said above that anything goes, I really do mean it. I think that’s why charcuterie board meals are so popular in our house. Everyone gets a little something they like, and everyone walks away happy. Here are a few flavors we enjoy:

  • Apples. I chose Granny Smith apples because their sour flavor contrasts nicely with the other sweets on the board. However, you can mix and match apples however you like. Pink Lady apples would be a lovely complement. I like to slice the apples a variety of ways so people can dip, layer, or sandwich them!
  • Chocolate. We love Enjoy Life brand chocolate chips.
  • Mixed nuts. Pecans, walnuts, and hazelnuts are great! Nut butters. We stick with almond butter or sun butter. However, just about any nut butter will work.
  • Fruit. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and grapes are delicious complements to apples.
  • Jams and jellies. Strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, or raspberry.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE AN APPLE SLICE CHARCUTERIE BOARD:

To store jams, jellies, and butters, I like to use small dishes. They’re charming, a break from our usual routine, and easy to fit on a board. With that in mind, I go with the following:

  1. Apples sliced into a variety of shapes and sizes.
  2. Spreads dolloped into small dishes.
  3. Crunchy foods spaced out across the board, alongside fruits or chocolate. If you don’t want people to reach across one another, consider laying the ingredients in rows that span the length of the board. Or place two batches of each ingredient on the board, opposite each other.
  4. Serve on a slate or wood charcuterie board OR on a firm cutting board.

HOMEMADE SAUCES AND SPREADS:

You can always go with store-bought jams and jellies. But if you’d like to make your own, then here are few to give you inspiration.

  • Paleo Pear Butter
  • 5-Minute Blackberry Sauce
  • 4-Ingredient Strawberry Vanilla Chia Jam

Happy charcuterie board crunch-munching, friends! We’re glad you’re here! ❤️
